Welcome to the Conservation Services Division!
The Conservation Services Division provides technical and financial support, leadership and statewide coordination, and regulatory oversight to public/private landowners and agricultural businesses statewide on an array of natural resource management challenges. Together, our programs help farmers, ranchers, and other landowners manage Colorado’s natural resources effectively for sustained agriculture production and environmental health.
What's New in the Conservation Services Division?
The Conservation Services Division Welcomes New Division Director: Evanne Caviness
Conservation Services is pleased to have Evanne Caviness joining the team to lead our wide array of programs and oversee our division's strategic vision.
“Evanne is a rancher, policy and conservation leader, with a deep commitment to agriculture and supporting the future of agriculture in Colorado,” said Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg. “Her experience as a producer as well as her work shaping state and national farm and conservation policy with the National Young Farmers Coalition and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will be tremendous assets for the state. Evanne’s proven leadership skills and relationships in the ag and conservation communities will serve her in this role as she supports CDA’s talented team of conservation professionals.”
Evanne lives in Bayfield (La Plata County) with her husband and family, where she runs Caviness Farms, a regenerative grassfed beef business. Her ranch focuses on regenerative practices to raise healthy, happy cattle in harmony with nature while ensuring healthy soils and resilient land. Welcome to CDA, Evanne!
